The War on Drugs is overlooked as a low-intensity conflict, but America's second longest war has killed more civilians than all other wars combined, and counting. Moreover, since 1775 approximately 1.4 million service members have been killed in action — while over 1 million civilians have died from overdose since 1999 alone. The further damage from addiction is incalculable.
We created the War on Drugs Medal to honor the duty and sacrifice of the United States Armed Forces, but it needs an Executive Order from President Biden to make it an official award:
